Updating host file in xp

Note: Once you update your host file, your local machine will display your new website as though it was live to the world.

To quickly fix this, I wrote a down and dirty version of this script with the host entry statically in the script.

It was 4 lines, simply opening the host file, writing the line and closing the file.

Most hosts files will have several entries for loopback.

We can use that for the basic example for the typical syntax.

If you’re using Windows 10 this will be on the Start Menu.

The Hosts file in Windows 10/8/7, is used to map host names to IP addresses.

This Hosts file is located deep down in the Windows folder.
